The Nethersole CofE Academy Vision and Values
To be light (living in our community and reaching out beyond it) bringing out the God-colours in the world.’ |
Jesus said, ‘You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world.’ Matthew 5:16
The Nethersole Church of England Academy Primary School and Nursery has a Christian foundation that inspires its life and work. Following the teaching of Jesus, we accept the challenge - ‘to be light [living in our community and reaching out beyond it], bringing out the God-colours in the world.’ Matthew 5:16
At the heart of our school is the belief that everyone is a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made in his image. Our work therefore is to nurture and love every individual, child and adult, to find and develop their gifts, overcoming barriers and growing in confidence to flourish - to let their light shine as the very best God version of themselves. Effective teaching and learning underpin this. We wish to inspire everyone to take responsibility for creation, civilisation, and the well-being of each of other, embracing and treasuring our differences.
Our Christ led vision is for a world of justice, respect, and love, and of people who are not afraid to love and sacrifice themselves for others. Our inspiration is Jesus, who loves us in sacrifice, forgives us and reminds us that we each have something special to do to bring out the God colours of the world. We believe that there is a space for everyone to shine brightly and differently and that this adds to the richness of our school family, our community and the wider world.

Our Values
Hope
Scripture God says, ‘I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out, plans to take care of you, not abandon you; plans to give you the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:11 (The Message)
God is good and He wants all His children to know that His amazing love for us is bigger than anything. God gives us hope; He has big plans for all of us and He wants us to shine like stars! If our lights dim to a flicker, with God’s help we can shine brightly again. If things hurt or fall apart, it is not the end. In this school we find hope for the future and a new start whenever we need it |
Community
Scripture
Live in harmony with one another
Romans 12: 16
God is good. He made humans to be friends and families who work together and learn to
love and care for each other. Everyone can help. We are all good at some things, but we are
not all good at the same things – so we help each other. In our church school community,
we are committed to helping each other, to looking out for anyone who needs help,
children and adults. We support each other with
love, we are partners in learning.
When we all shine together, we fill the world with God colours!

Dignity and Respect
Scripture
Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. |
1 Peter 2:17
God is good. He loves each of us. He loves you as you and me as me. We are special and important to Him. However small we are on the outside, or however small we feel inside, God knows us and notices us. In this school, we try to remember that God loves each of us, children and adults - everyone is someone, everyone matters, and everyone can shine. We respect each other – our similarities and our differences. We treat each other’s beliefs and views with reverence. God has made each of us for a purpose - to shine His light in the world and in our school.
Forgiveness
Scripture
If you forgive people who sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
Matthew 6:14
God is good. He loves us like a father loves his child. He will forgive us over and over again.
When we go away from God, He will always welcome us back. In this school we recognise that everyone gets it wrong sometimes, but they and we can be forgiven. We help each other to put things right and we start each day like a clean page. When we forgive and receive forgiveness the God colours shine in the world.
Wisdom
Scripture
Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money; choose insight over income every time. |
Proverbs 16:16 (The Message)
God is good. He wants us to learn. Learning is our number one job in school. The Bible says
God is infinite, the universe is vast, and life is an amazing mystery – we should never give up
learning . But some people think it’s only being clever that counts . In this school,
we want you to learn many things, but we also want you to be wise, to learn wisdom. It means using your learning in good ways, God’s ways, so that your shining light brings God’s colours into the world.
Thankfulness
Scripture
Always be thankful. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. In all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus. Colossians 3:15-17
God is good. He loves all of us. He has created a wonderful world for us to enjoy. He has
blessed us with character, gifts and talents so that we make His colours shine in His world.
When we are thankful for what we have, we treasure and protect those things because
we want them to last for ever. We can say thank you, but we can also live our lives with an attitude of gratitude by nurturing our world, our
communities, our relationships.
When we appreciate God and each other, we shine God’s colours.
