We are very lucky to have close links with Polesworth Abbey, which was founded in the 7th century by St. Modwena and King Egbert. At Polesworth Abbey you will find a warm welcome from Father Phillip and people who are seeking the way to God’s heart through Jesus. Father Philip has served the community of Polesworth for many years and we are extremely fortunate to work closely with him to develop our Church School.
Fr Philip Wells
Polesworth Abbey
Father Phillip has very close links with our school and believes that we are preparing children and launching them into their future. We pray that they will be confident and equipped to play their part in the future of the whole world. As children of God we prepare ourselves to take responsibility for creation, civilisation and the well-being of everyone. No one can do this alone! We must build up our spirit that we can build the future that God wants together.
Our vision is for a world of justice, respect, and love, and of people who are not afraid to love and sacrifice themselves for others — whoever they are. Our inspiration is Jesus, who loves us in sacrifice and forgives us and reminds us that we are all part of the universal church, each with something special to do.
Children at the Nethersole Academy learn to understand these things. We say the Lord's Prayer, praying that God's kingdom may come on earth. We meet in church for services. We come to church at other times to discern how God wants our spirit to grow and how we have unique special things to offer.
The School Prayer
Lord God in heaven,
We play together,
We learn together,
We try hard to get things right.
Lord, love us all,
And let our light shine bright.
In our school,
We read about you,
Of all your strength and might.
Lord keep us safe,
And let our light shine bright.
God you are our friend and Saviour,
We want to be a delight,
Lord watch over us,
And let our light shine bright.
Many colours make a rainbow,
Many children make our school,
Together an awesome sight,
Lord, love us all,
And let our school shine bright.
Amen.
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
