On Fridays, Reception children will take part in PE lessons. This may take the form of dance, games or gymnastics. Reception children need to come to school on a Friday in their PE kit. If your child has pierced ears then please make sure that earrings are removed on PE days. It really is important to name all items of your child’s PE kit, including pumps.
Year 1 children in Turing have PE on Thursdays with Mr Fox. Please send the children into school wearing their PE kits every Thursday.
Reading at home:
Your child will bring home a reading book that is appropriate to their level of development. Initially, children may bring home a reading book that does not contain words. These books are essential for helping children to develop their story telling skills and understand how a story is structured. Children will then bring home books to consolidate the skills being taught in phonics sessions. Please read at home with your child as often as possible, it really helps them to develop their skills and confidence in reading. Please sign your child’s reading diary 3 to 5 times per week.
Forest School sessions (Tuesdays):
Every Tuesday, Reception children will go outside to take part in outdoor learning. Please ensure that your child has a pair of wellies in school which are named. Children will need to come to school in outdoor appropriate clothes on Tuesdays, which they will then go home in at the end of the day. It is important that all of the items are named.
