Welcome to Reception. Our class teachers are Mrs Satchell, Mrs Tweed and Miss Hughes. Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Parsons and Mrs McClure.
This page will be regularly updated to let you find out about all the things we have been learning. If there is anything else that you would like to be added to our page, please let Mrs Satchell or Miss Hughes know.
We have two Reception classes- RLS and RKH. We work together as a unit across our two classrooms and our Outdoor Area.
In Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. There are 7 areas of learning and development:
Prime Areas: Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Specific Areas: Literacy
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
These 7 areas are used to plan your child's daily learning and activities.
Things to bring to school every day
Please send your child's book bag into school every day. Inside the book bag should be their reading book and diary.
Children can bring a water bottle into school. Water bottles should be clearly labelled and should only contain water or flavoured water.
PE kits should be kept in school at all times. Our PE day is Friday but occasionally we may have an extra session.
Please make sure that all uniform is clearly labelled.
Children will bring home two new books each week. Please listen to your child read as often as possible. Please record in the diary each time you read- even if it's a book selected from home. We expect diaries to be signed at least 3 times per week. Reading books will only be changed if diaries have been signed.
Children visit the school library every Friday. Please make sure that their book is in their book bag on a Friday morning so that it can be changed.
Children bring home their Literacy homework on a Friday. Please help children to complete their homework each week. Books will be collected in on a Thursday and returned on a Friday.
Fresh Air Friday
Every week, children take part in 'Fresh Air Friday'. On Friday afternoons, we spend the afternoon learning and exploring in the school grounds. Children get changed into their 'messy' clothes and have fun taking part in different outdoor activities.
Have a look at the things we have been getting up to!
Visit to The Wisdom Academy- Wednesday 24th May 2017
Today Reception children visited The Wisdom Academy, a faith based Independent school in Birmingham. The children from The Wisdom Academy had previously visited our school and spent time in the Reception classrooms.
We all had a fantastic morning! The staff and children at the school were extremely welcoming and our children enjoyed exploring their classrooms and outdoor area! The children really loved visiting their new 'Library Bus' and playing football on the playground.
The school prepared a special lunch that the children all really enjoyed. It was lovely to see the children meet up again and to see their friendships grow.
