Hawthorn

Welcome to Hawthorn!

P.E. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure that children have their PE kits in school and that any earrings are taken out beforehand if children cannot remove them themselves.

Spellings New spellings are usually given out on a Monday and tested on the following Monday.

Reading It is very important that children read three times a week at home and that their diary is signed. Children should be encouraged to share a range of different texts and reflect on them accordingly. By asking them to make predictions, discuss characters and explore a range of vocabulary, you are making a significant difference to your child's education.

Homework This is usually given out on a Friday and is expected back in school on the following Wednesday. Please try and encourage your child to treat their homework books as they would the books which are kept in school.

An Archaeological Adventure - Hawthorn class had their own archaeological dig after a letter from a University Professor. They excavated the site and made sure that they were meticulous in their searches. They found an amazing collection of items and excavated the site properly where they recorded, bagged and labelled finds correctly.

Roman Topic Day - We spent the day learning about how people came to be Gladiators, the functions of several Roman buildings and what the Romans bought to Britain. We then had a go at making our own settlement. Who said Rome couldn't be built in a day?!
